Archaeological Survey of India, New Delhi publication
Monuments of Kerala by H.Sarkar, has recorded the existence
of the temple in the 9th century. (pages 24, 32 &33)
Arts and Crafts written by Dr. Stella Kramrisch, J.H.Cousins
and Vasudeva Poduval, published by the Department of Culture,
Govt. of Kerala has included the cultural and artistic
history of the temple at Page 9 and has carried a picture
of the remains of the temple including the ancient idol.
The picture shows that the temple had a round sreekovil
the rarest of such kind in ancient India, especially in
this part of the country.The photograph of the remains
of the round sreekovil of the ancient temple taken in
1937 and included in the book titled Arts and Crafts.
The ancient idol now preserved as a monument at Krishnavilasom
Palace, Kayamkulam could also be seen in the photograph
